Aren't gifts just the best? Don't gifts make you smile?
Well, I definitely love gifts! As a child, I remember walking into my family room on the morning on my birthday each year, jittering with uncontrollable excitement and a big-as-life grin pasted across my face. Although I now get much more pleasure from the act of giving rather than receiving, we all can admit that it feels good to get gifts... especially when those gifts are totally outta' the blue!
I've always loved the way the sun shines light into our lives every single day. It's always astonished me how a single THING can saturate the lives of every single human being on our planet, you know? I mean, sure, science has proven its reasoning behind the matter, but from a guileless, idealistic point of view, sunshine is really awesome! And.... I thought one day, wouldn't it be amazing if I could bring sunshine into people's lives who may feel sad, isolated, or alone?
That's why I created SunshineBox! Starting in September of 2016, I've been working with you to put together cute, goofy "boxes of sunshine" and pass them out to seniors in nursing homes, who often feel lonely and isolated from the outside world. I'm so thrilled about the launch of this new initiative, and I hope you are too! Basically, these boxes (or bags) are designed as a fun way for the recipient to feel loved and appreciated, because after all, who doesn’t love receiving surprise packages just for them?! They’re bright and fun, and they give you that amazing warm-fuzzy feeling when you open them! In the summer 2016 edition of the boxes, we included fun little things like neon smiley face stress balls, yellow bandanas, leis, felt smiley emoji pens, yellow sunglasses, and yellow notepads. Even though some of the items may seem silly, the boxes are really designed to give the seniors a good chuckle and bring some happiness into their day! So c'mon and help us spread the sunshine! Donate just $25 to give SunshineBoxes to 5 deserving seniors!
